Wolfgang Zichy de Vásonkeö
Co-founder
«My purpose: A spot-on conception, in-tune with the clients aspirations and needs. Wandering and wondering on the drawings of the new born project, I like to see our first art becoming real and emerging from the ground.»
Wolfgang Zichy co-founded AZ ARCHIZEST (formerly AZ Architecture) in 2000 together with his wife Amélie de Kerchove. In 2013, after a year travelling through South America with his wife and four children, he co-founded AZ's Lisbon office.
He studied architecture at the Institut Saint Luc in Bruxelles.
After graduating, he honed his skills at AUSIA in Brussels, managing large scale projects, ensembles of several hundreds of projjects.
At AZ ARCHIZEST, Wolfgang brings to the team a wealth of experience gained through the successful delivery of projects across Belgium, France, and Portugal.
Gifted with an exceptional talent for drawing, Wolfgang has the rare ability to bring a project to life with just a few strokes of a pencil. His drawings reveal spaces before they exist, capturing their structure, proportions, and spirit with striking precision.
Wolfgang contributes a vital engineering dimension to the AZ studio's work. His expertise, precision, and problem-solving mindset provide the foundation upon which ambitious ideas can flourish, ensuring that creativity and technical excellence remain inseparable throughout every project.
Amélie de Kerchove de Denterghem
CO-FOUNDER
«My Passion: To add a touch of poetry to architecture, to stage it, always with a hint of glamour, a stroke of eccentricity offsetting the expected. To accent spaces with, a zest, a je ne sais quoi which sublimates the architecture with style and grace.»
Amélie de Kerchove co-founded AZ ARCHIZEST (formerly AZ Architecture) with her husband Wolfgang Zichy in 2000 in Brussels. In 2013, after a year travelling through South America with her husband and four children, she co-founded AZ's Lisbon office.
She studied in Brussels, where she graduated with distinction from the Victor Horta Architecture faculty at the Université Libre de Bruxelles.
Before founding AZ ARCHIZEST, she honed her skills managing and designing architectural projects working with the Belgian architect Philippe Ladrière. She also designed urban furniture and refined her graphic design skills at FMS, cultivating a strong expertise in visual identity, composition, and communication that remains an integral part of AZ’s creative process and brand expression today.
Her cross-disciplinary approach, at the intersection of art, architecture, and interior design, lies at the heart of AZ’s holistic turnkey ethos. An artist at heart, Amélie is guided by creativity and intuition, crafting spaces that go beyond function to evoke emotion and tell a story. She brings to AZ a strong creative identity with character and soul.
